Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026: A Gift of Health With Every Piece of You Order

We make jewellery for the moments that matter. This October, we want to talk about the one that matters most: your health.

The most important thing a woman can invest in is herself. That idea sits at the heart of everything we design, and for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026 we have teamed up with Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres to put it into practice. From 1 to 31 October, every Piece of You order comes with a complimentary breast screening at Medcare, a gift of health alongside the piece you love.

Below: how the collaboration works, why screening matters so much for women in the UAE, when you should get checked, and the new Heartstring collection we created for the month.

What the Piece of You × Medcare collaboration includes

The idea is simple. Jewellery is often how we mark love and care for the women in our lives. A screening is one of the most meaningful forms of care there is. So for October, the two come together.

  • Who it’s for: every customer who places a Piece of You order between 1 and 31 October 2026.

  • What you get: a complimentary breast screening at Medcare, alongside your jewellery.

  • Where: across Medcare hospitals in the UAE.

  • Any piece counts: the offer applies to every order, not just one collection, so it works whether you choose a necklace, earrings, or a personalised gift.

  • The fine print: screening is subject to Medcare’s terms and appointment availability.

After you order, our team will share the details you need to book your Medcare appointment. If anything is unclear, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll walk you through it. Share your moment with #PieceOfYouMedcare.

Why breast screening matters for women in the UAE

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the UAE. The UAE National Cancer Registry’s 2021 figures put it at roughly 37% of all cancers diagnosed in women that year, more than one in three.

What makes it especially important here is age. Studies of UAE patients consistently find that breast cancer tends to appear around a decade younger than in Western countries. One UAE review found the median age at diagnosis was around 48, and that roughly one in five cases was in women aged 30 to 40. In other words, this isn’t only a conversation for our mothers. It’s a conversation for us, our sisters, and our friends.

The encouraging part is how much early detection changes the outcome. Medcare notes that when breast cancer is found at stage 1 or 2, the five-year survival rate is above 90%. A screening mammogram can pick up changes before you can feel them or notice any symptom, which is exactly why regular screening matters more than waiting for a sign.

Cost and time are the two reasons women most often put screening off. A standard mammogram package in Dubai typically runs around AED 250 to 375 at private hospitals. Removing that cost, even for one appointment, is a real nudge to finally book it.

When should you get a breast screening?

Guidance varies with age, breast density and family history, so the right plan is always one you agree with your doctor. As a general guide for women in the UAE:

  • From 40: UAE guidance (as summarised by Mediclinic from the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s standards) recommends women at average risk begin regular screening mammograms at 40.

  • 50 to 74: continue screening every one to two years, depending on your health, breast density and your physician’s advice.

  • Under 40, or with a family history: speak to a doctor about whether earlier or additional screening, such as ultrasound, is right for you. Given how many UAE cases occur before 40, this conversation is worth having early.

Know what’s normal for you

Between screenings, get to know how your breasts usually look and feel, so you notice when something changes. See a doctor promptly if you notice:

  • A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm

  • A change in size, shape or contour

  • Dimpling, puckering, redness or scaly skin

  • Nipple discharge, or a nipple that turns inward

Most breast changes turn out to be benign, but every one deserves a proper check.

Meet Heartstring: pink sapphires with a purpose

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month we designed Heartstring, a small collection in 18K rose gold set with pink sapphires. Each piece is built around a heart, our symbol for love, strength, resilience and hope, and a reminder to put your own health first.

The Heartstring Pink Sapphire Necklace

The Heartstring Pink Sapphire Necklace is the signature piece: a heart outlined in pink sapphires, with fine rose gold strands falling from it like a soft fringe, catching light every time you move. It’s AED 2,999, or AED 5,798 as a set with the matching ear jacket.

The Heartstring Pink Sapphire Earrings

The Heartstring Pink Sapphire Earrings bring the same idea to the ear. Choose the Heartstring Jacket Earrings at AED 2,999, or the Jacket with Outline Heart Earrings at AED 5,150 for a fuller look.

Why pink sapphire? It carries the colour of the pink ribbon, but as a natural precious stone it is durable enough to wear every day, long after October. That was the point: a piece that keeps its message all year rather than a seasonal accessory.

How to wear Heartstring, in October and beyond

Rose gold and pink sapphire are gentle together, which makes Heartstring easy to style.

Gift it to a woman you love

This campaign works best when it travels. Buying for your mother, sister, best friend or a colleague means you’re giving two things at once: a piece she’ll keep, and a reason to book the check-up she’s been postponing.

  • For the woman who “never has time”: Heartstring, plus a gentle push to use her screening.

  • For a more personal gift: the Luxury Edit Openable Heart Necklace can carry an engraving that means something only to her.

  • Spread the cost: every piece is available with Tabby and Tamara. Here’s how BNPL works at Piece of You.

Whatever you choose this month, the screening comes with the order.

Before your screening: a short checklist

  • Book early in the month. Appointment slots fill up in October.

  • Timing: if you still have periods, the week after your period is usually the most comfortable time for a mammogram.

  • On the day: skip deodorant, powder and body lotion on your chest and underarms, as they can show up on the images. Wear a two-piece outfit.

  • Bring your history: previous scans, and any family history of breast or ovarian cancer.

  • Remove your jewellery before imaging, then put your Heartstring back on afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy something from the Heartstring collection?

No. The complimentary screening comes with every Piece of You order placed between 1 and 31 October 2026, whichever piece you choose.

Where can I have the screening?

At Medcare hospitals in the UAE. Screening is subject to Medcare’s terms and availability, so we recommend booking early.

How do I book my appointment?

After your order, our team will share the details you need to book with Medcare. You can also message us on WhatsApp at any time.

I’m under 40. Is a screening still useful?

Talk it through with the Medcare doctor. Routine mammograms typically start at 40, but because breast cancer often appears younger in the UAE, a clinical check or ultrasound may be recommended depending on your history.

Can I gift the screening along with the jewellery?

The offer is linked to the order, so if you’re buying as a gift, message our team and we’ll advise how the screening can best go to the person it’s meant for.

How long does the offer run?

For orders placed from 1 to 31 October 2026.
