Cut: The Only C You Can’t Compromise

Cut is not the shape — it’s how well the diamond’s angles are engineered to return light. A perfectly cut smaller diamond will visibly outshine a larger, poorly cut one, because sparkle is what your eye actually registers. This is the C where “excellent” genuinely means something. Colour: Buy for the Eye, Not the Certificate

Colour grades run from D (icy colourless) downward as warmth creeps in. Here’s the honest part: the difference between a D and a G is real on paper and nearly invisible in a set piece of jewellery — especially in yellow gold, which flatters a hint of warmth beautifully. Near-colourless grades deliver white-diamond beauty at meaningfully better value than certificate-chasing perfection.

Clarity: The Most Overrated C

Clarity measures internal characteristics — nature’s fingerprints inside the stone. The scale runs from flawless down through VS (very slightly included) and SI (slightly included). The key term is “eye-clean”: if an inclusion can’t be seen without a magnifying loupe, it does not affect beauty. Paying for flawless grades buys bragging rights, not visible sparkle. Carat: Weight, Not Size

Carat measures weight, and price jumps at the round numbers — 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 — because demand does. A 0.9 carat diamond looks almost identical to a 1.0 and costs noticeably less.
